DIY Christmast Cards
It’s no secret that I LOVE a Christmas card. I recently shared a post detailing my deep love of taking annual family photos…which I then use in our Christmas card. I don’t love however how expensive it has become to send Christmas cards. It isn’t unusual for it to cost $1.75 per card and that doesn’t include the cost of postage.
Last year in my frustration, I got creative and was able to create something that felt high quality and special to our family but only cost about 75 cents per card.
Step 1. I purchased some really beautiful watercolor style clip art from an artist on Etsy for $5.50
Step 2. I put my Etsy clip art onto Canva and designed the front and back of our cards using a 5 x 7 template and inserting our photos and text.
Step 3. I ordered post card prints from Vista Print. Important to note that I didn’t use the holiday card blank postcard template. Instead I just the the regular old like business notecard template. From what I could tell, the options were the same but doing it outside of the holiday section made it literally half the price.
Step 4. Envelopes. You could skip this step if you choose to send the card as postcards but we like sending in an envelope and these ones we used last year are beautiful!
I printed 250 (I only needed 150 but it was cheaper to order 250 then two orders of 100) for $75. They arrived 2 days after I ordered and the quality is great! They look just as good if not better then what I have done previously and we spent a fraction of the price.
This year I might simplify even further and plug and play with a premade template. See below for some of my favorite I found on Etsy!
